Basil Hart Wins the Rising Star and NAIDOC Week Youth Award!

Congratulations to Basil Hart, who was awarded the Naidoc Week Youth Award on Saturday, July 16! Additionally, Basil's exceptional talent and dedication earned him a spot as a finalist for the esteemed Sportspersons of the Year Award.

Basil's incredible achievements in sports have been recognised through this well-deserved nomination. His commitment, skills, and accomplishments have set him apart as a true footy prodigy.

The Naidoc Week Youth Award holds immense significance for our First Nations kids, as it acknowledges their hard work, perseverance, and successes throughout their different sporting journeys. It recognises the impact they make not only on themselves and their families but also on their people.

As our Aboriginal Education Officer, Bianca Hart, rightly expressed, the Nyoongar community takes great pride in celebrating their young sports stars and high achievers, nurturing them to reach their full potential in all aspects of life.

Basil's impressive season continued with his selection in the 2023 AFL National Development Championships – U16 Boys All-Australian Team, making him the only boy from WA to be selected. Which is a big achievement.

He further distinguished himself by securing WA's Most Valuable Player award, showcasing his incredible talent on the field with multiple goals scored per game and a stellar overall performance.

The College community couldn't be prouder of Basil's accomplishments, as he continues to inspire and lead the way for others. We congratulate Basil on his well-deserved recognition and look forward to witnessing his bright future ahead.
