DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGIES TEACHER 

(Ideally, Metals/Wood/Building & Construction and other combinations considered)

Our Lady of Mercy College is a Catholic co-educational College in the coastal town of Australind.  Inspired by the charism of the Mercy Sisters, the College provides educational opportunities that inspire learning, nurture faith and encourage students to embrace life. The Technologies department is an exciting and innovative area consisting of Design and Technology. It is currently undergoing exciting change with new and industry-ready equipment and resources. Our innovative courses utilise an interdisciplinary approach to learning, resulting in the creation of an enjoyable and exciting environment.

 

We are seeking an innovative and experienced educator with a strength in Design and Technology. They will have a genuine interest in curriculum development and enjoy collaborating with others and working as part of a vibrant team. Capable and confident graduates will be considered and, if successful, nurtured and supported during their early development.

 

Given the broad nature of this Learning Area, the ideal applicant will be proficient in two or more of the following areas;

  • Woodwork and Metalwork across Years 7-12

  • Electronics across Years 7-8

  • General Building and Construction across Years 11-12

  • CAD programs such as Fusion 360 or Inventor

  • CAM such as 3D printing and laser cutting

  • Digital Technologies, including Coding and Robotics across Years 7-9

  • The use of 3D Printers and laser cutters

Selection Criteria

 

The successful person will have;

  • Knowledge of and commitment to the ethos and values of Catholic education in a Mercy context.

  • A passion and ability to teach Design Technologies.

  • A comprehensive knowledge and an understanding of effective pedagogy in the field of Design Technologies.

  • Ability to foster positive relationships with students, staff and parents.

  • Highly developed ICT skills.

  • Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills.

Qualifications Required

​​

  • Current registration with the Teacher Registration Board of WA (TRBWA)

  • Western Australia Department of Education National Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC)

  • Working with Children Screen Check

  • Have completed, working towards, or be willing to work towards, 'Accreditation to Work in a Catholic School'. Additional information can be found here: CEWA Limited Accreditation Framework
