School-Based Apprenticeships & Traineeships
At Our Lady of Mercy College, students have access to valuable vocational pathways through School-Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBATs). These programs allow students to begin paid, part-time work while completing nationally recognised training and their secondary schooling.

SBATs combine workplace learning with study through a Registered Training Organisation, leading to qualifications such as a Certificate II or III. Students typically work at least one day per week, gaining practical skills, industry experience and a clearer direction for their future careers.

These pathways also provide a strong transition into full-time apprenticeships or employment after school, with the potential for training credit that supports further study.

Students are supported throughout the process by dedicated staff and industry partners such as MEGT, ensuring clear guidance for students, families and employers at every stage.
