Our Year 12 Material Design Technology Metal students have been putting their design and practical skills to the test as they work on the project brief: developing a compact cooking implement for a client.
In Term 2, Mr Bylund guided students through the design phase, with Mr Cope supporting the practical work in Term 3. Students considered form, function and aesthetics to create unique products designed to stand the test of time.
This semester’s projects have included flat-pack fire pits, folding-leg grill plates, collapsible inter-locking fire pits and even a rotisserie.
Students have independently carried out a range of practical operations including marking out, cutting, welding, turning and grinding. Their focus and commitment have been impressive, with three semesters of prior experience coming together in the planning and execution of this project.
We can’t wait to see the finished pieces roll off the assembly line in the coming weeks.
Well done to all of the students for their consistent efforts.
