Orientation Day for Students

We are excited to invite your child to our Year 7 2026 Orientation Day. This day is designed to help future students feel comfortable and familiar with their new school.

Location: Our Lady of Mercy College
Please note that there won't be a formal parent presentation at the end of the day, though staff will be available to answer any questions you may have.
Your child will bring home a comprehensive Orientation Booklet with all the key information for their transition to high school.
Transport
Please arrange transport for your child on Orientation Day. Where possible, we encourage families to organise carpooling to help reduce traffic around the College. We also recommend avoiding bus travel; however, if it is necessary, please contact your provider beforehand. For students who take the bus home, activities and supervision will be provided until 3.00pm
Drop-off

Please drop your child off in the drop-off lane via the Leisure Drive entrance.

If you need to park, please use the areas shown on the map provided.

Where possible, we encourage families to carpool to help ease traffic around the College.

Staff and student leaders will be present to guide your child to the Gymnasium.
Pick-up

All parents are asked to park in the designated car park at 2.00pm and collect their child from the area shown on the map.

Students catching the bus will be supervised in the Gymnasium, and escorted to the buses around 3.00pm.

Students with a sibling at the College may be released after Period 5 to meet you at the designated collection point.

and, if applicable, the name of their sibling for early release arrangements

What to Expect?
Throughout the day, the students will:
• Be welcomed by staff and students
• Meet fellow future students
• Have a tour of the College
• Participate in selected classes
• Enjoy friendly sports activities
They will leave with confidence and excitement for the new year.
What to Wear and Bring?
Students should wear their Primary School Sports Uniform (including runners, hat, and sunscreen).
Please pack:
• Lunch
• Water bottle
• Pencil case
• Schoolbag for belongings
Morning tea will be provided by the current Year 7 students, including a juice box. If your child has allergies, please indicate this in the forms below and provide their own morning tea if needed.
We encourage students to leave mobile devices at home or ensure they are switched off in their bags. The College is not responsible for any loss or damage to personal items.
Forms to Complete Before Orientation Day
In preparation for Orientation Day, your assistance is required in completing the below forms for your child. Please complete and return these forms by 3.00pm, Friday, 10 October 2025.
1. Please complete the Year 7 2026 Orientation Day and Language Selection Form.

Students need to select a language, which they will study in Years 7 and 8. Language places are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
2. Medical Form
Complete this Medical Form only if your child’s medical details have changed since enrolment. Please send any updates or specialist/diagnostic reports to enrolments@olmca.wa.edu.au.
3. Uniform Fitting Appointment
Please book a 30-minute Uniform Fitting Appointment in October and November through the link below.
If you need to reschedule your appointment, please cancel and rebook your desired time. If you have two children who need to be fitted, please book two consecutive times. Please enter the FULL STUDENT NAME under the "Add your details" section. Add the parent’s/caregiver's name under the “Add any special requests”.
