National Reconciliation Week by Emmy and Brooklyn-Lea

Updated: 1 day ago

National Reconciliation Week 2025 is observed from May 27 to June 3. This year’s theme, "Bridging Now to Next," invites us to reflect on the ongoing connection between past, present, and future, and how we each play a part in moving forward together.

Two of our students, Emmy and Brooklyn-Lea share what this week means to them:

“Reconciliation Week, to me, is about all Australians learning about and respecting culture. I believe education is key to closing the gap. It would be awesome if all schools taught the language and culture of the nation they walk on. By doing this, the younger generation will learn to respect and appreciate our culture. It’s a week to be proud of who we are.”

Emmy

"Reconciliation Week is a time to reflect on the importance of understanding, respect, and healing between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians. We celebrate it each year to acknowledge the truth of our shared history and to work together towards a more inclusive and united future."
