Course Description
Study of the ATAR English course focuses on developing students’ analytical, creative, critical thinking and communication skills. Students will develop the ability to analyse and evaluate the texts they study and create their own responses. The course focuses on imaginative, persuasive, interpretive and analytical text types. The Year 12 ATAR English course is designed to develop students’ facility with all types of texts and language modes. Students refine the skills learnt in Year 11 by engaging critically and creatively with texts. Students learn to speak and write fluently in a range of contexts and to create a range of text forms as well as develop their oral communication skills through discussion, debate and argument, in a range of formal and informal situations.
Minimum Entry Requirements
B grade in Year 10 General English OR C grade in Year 10 Extension English
