Year 10 Students Volunteer and Raise Funds for St Vincent de Paul

On Saturday, 17 October, Year 10 students volunteered to cook a sausage sizzle for the parishioners at Christ the Living Vine Church in Australind. They demonstrated the Mercy Value of "Hospitality" by preparing and serving the food as well as cleaning up afterwards.

Parishioners purchased their sausage sizzle for a gold coin donation, with proceeds going to the Australind chapter of St Vincent de Paul.

Father Ian and the parishioners enjoyed the food as well as each others company.

One parishioner said; " I thought it was a lovely sausage sizzle last night. It was good to see the students get involved. They seemed to enjoy doing something like the B.B.Q."

Mr Jack de Gooijer, President of Australind St Vincent de Paul Society, thanked the College;

"St Vincent de Paul thank you and the wonderful students from Mercy for a wonderful evening with the sausage sizzle. A wonderful initiative to bring school and parish together.

The total raised for our Australind Conference is $217. This will go a long way to helping the families that call on us for help.

Again, thank you."
