Year 10 Student Grace Gains Valuable Health Care Experience through Workplace Learning Program

Grace (Year 10) has recently had the opportunity to participate in the Year 10 Workplace Learning program, where she gained valuable industry experience and learned about careers in health care.

She is currently attending Valley View Residence in Collie and has been learning from the friendly and supportive staff about caring for the residents.

Grace chatted with the Career Services Team about the importance of respecting the residents in their home and the responsibilities related to that. This has provided her with a deep insight into the importance of health care and the variety of work roles that are available. Grace has observed a broad range of medical procedures, and she has been able to provide care and support to residents under the direct supervision of Nursing staff. Importantly, Grace has gained a deeper insight to the challenges associated with working in a healthcare role. Her work placement is providing Grace with a deeper understanding of what it will mean for her if she decides to develop a career in health care and nursing.

Workplace Learning and Year 10 Work Experience week in Term 2 – Week 10 are excellent opportunities for students to gain insights into potential career options and make informed decisions about subject selection and training options.

We would like to thank the amazing team at Valley View for providing Grace with a supportive and friendly learning experience.

Please contact the Career Services Team if you would like to learn more about the College’s Workplace Learning and Year 10 Work Experience program.
