Ridley Park Foreshore Parkrun – A Community in Motion

Since its establishment last April, the Ridley Place Foreshore Parkrun has become a fantastic way for the Australind community— including many Our Lady of Mercy College (OLMC) students, staff, and families— to stay active and connected.

Held every Saturday at 8 AM, this free 5km event welcomes participants of all fitness levels, whether they choose to run or walk. The scenic course along the Estuary even offers the occasional dolphin sighting for the lucky few. The event starts and finishes at Ridley Park, near Crab Park.

It has been wonderful to see the OLMC community embracing Parkrun each week, not just as participants but also in volunteer roles such as Run Director, Marshals, Finish Tokens and Photographer. The Mercy value of courage is on full display as individuals challenge themselves to achieve personal bests, all while receiving encouragement through high-fives, cheers, and applause.

Here’s what some of our students had to say about their Parkrun experience:

Miranda Hickling (Year 9) – “Parkrun is a great way to exercise and set personal goals. It helps keep everyone fit, and you get to run in a supportive community each week.”

Imogen Buemi (Year 9) – “Parkrun is a fun and inclusive experience where people of all ages and fitness levels can challenge themselves. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the people are lovely.”

Grace Lloyd (Year 9) – “Volunteering at Parkrun is incredibly rewarding. It’s wonderful to be part of a friendly community and watch people achieve their goals each week.”

It’s free to register – just go to home | parkrun Australia to sign up and get your barcode.

Whether you're looking to improve your fitness, meet new people, or give back as a volunteer, Ridley Place Foreshore Parkrun is a fantastic way to start your Saturday. We encourage more OLMC families to get involved— see you at the start line!
