Friday, 28 July, was a special day for us as we had the honour of hosting a visit from Sr. Sally, the Executive Director of Mercy Works. Mercy Works is the development arm of the Sisters of Mercy in Australia and Papua New Guinea, and their work is simply inspiring!
They actively engage with vulnerable communities and local organisations in Australia, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, and Timor-Leste, working hand-in-hand to empower and build self-reliance.
Our Year 9 cohort had the privilege of hearing Sr. Sally speak about the initiatives Mercy Works is carrying out in these communities. It was a fantastic opportunity for our students to learn about the history of Mercy and witness firsthand how the Sisters of Mercy continue to show compassion in the present.
We're really looking forward to celebrating Feast Day later this term, where part of the fundraising will go to support Sr. Sally's and Mercy Works’ outstanding work.
A letter regarding Feast Day was sent out to families on Wednesday, 2 August. You can read it by clicking on this link.
