A group of Year 9 students recently took part in an exciting Career Taster experience titled Aviate Your Career at the Bunbury Flying School. The program gave students a hands-on introduction to the world of aviation.

Guided by a professional mentor pilot and a current student pilot, students learnt about the educational pathways available for aspiring pilots, including the theory and practical training involved.

As part of the experience, students were taken on a tour of the Bunbury Flying School’s facilities, including lecture rooms, study areas and on-site boarding accommodation. These state-of-the-art facilities are drawing more numbers to the South West to become qualified pilots.

The visit also gave students a close-up look at the training fleet, which includes both modern planes and a collection of vintage aircraft.

One of the highlights of the day was the opportunity for every student to use the school’s professional-grade flight simulator. The students experienced what it’s like to fly over Bunbury, navigating the skies and safely landing their virtual aircraft.

The visit was a fun and eye-opening way to explore the world of aviation.
