Year 9 Students Show the Power of Service
What does it look like when faith moves beyond the classroom? For our Year 9 students, it looked like lending a helping hand, planting something for the future and creating messages of hope.
On Thursday 17 September, our Year 9 students took part in Christian Service Learning activities, putting their faith into action through a range of practical experiences across the College and wider community.
Students chose from four activities, each offering a different way to serve others.
At Eden Life Village, students spent time with residents, playing games, chatting and simply enjoying each other’s company. In the Foods Room, another group worked together to prepare food hampers for local parishes, while students creating prayer cards and messages of hope.
Our garden group got their hands dirty, planting native species around the College and helping to care for our shared environment.
While the activities were different, the purpose was the same: to encourage our students to look beyond themselves and recognise the difference they can make through small acts of kindness and service.
It was wonderful to see our Year 9 students embracing the opportunity to live out the Mercy values of Compassion, Respect, Justice and Service in such practical and meaningful ways.
Christian Service Learning is a reminder that Service is not just something we talk about. It is something we do.
