A group of Year 9 students recently enjoyed attending the Salon Assistant Career Taster at South Regional TAFE on Friday 8 May.

The girls were excited to discover they would be participating as clients in the TAFE students’ practical assessment. Each student was welcomed by their student hairdresser, consulted about their hair needs, and treated to a professional wash and blow-dry, leaving the salon looking and feeling amazing.

During the visit, students also learnt about the Certificate II in Salon Assistant and Certificate II in Retail Cosmetics, both offered through the Vocational Education and Training delivered to Secondary Students (VETdSS) program while still attending the College.

Thank you to Miss Chloe Gunson for organising this wonderful opportunity alongside Marchelle Antonovich, SRTAFE Career Taster Program Coordinator.

If you would like to learn more about the VET courses available while attending Our Lady of Mercy College, please contact the Career Services Department on (08) 9720 3300.
