Year 11 students embraced the Mercy value of Hospitality on Friday, 29 August, by volunteering as waitstaff at the Bunbury Gala Dinner, hosted by the Knights of the Southern Cross.
Andrew, Zahara, Nicola, Shiksha and Ruben, supported by College staff Miss Eaton, Mrs Jack, Mrs Griffin and Mrs Cronin, gave up their Catholic Day celebrations to serve others. Together, they welcomed guests with canapés and later provided table service for a three-course meal.
Held at the Bunbury Parish Hall beside St Patrick’s Cathedral, the dinner brought together around 80 attendees, with some travelling from Perth and towns across the South West to be part of the occasion.
The Knights of the Southern Cross, a national organisation of Catholic laymen, is dedicated to charitable works guided by faith and the virtues of prudence, justice, fortitude and temperance. It strives to serve the wider community and support those in need.
It was a wonderful night of community and service, and we are so proud of the way our students represented the College.
