Students from Our Lady of Mercy College are preparing to go on an exciting educational tour of Canberra and Sydney during the upcoming school holidays. During the trip, they will participate in various programs centred on Australia's rich history, culture, heritage, and democracy.
The Australian Government recognises the importance of providing young Australians with the opportunity to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To support families in covering the excursion costs, the Government is contributing $510.00 per student through the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate (PACER) program. This rebate will be paid directly to the College upon completion of the trip.
The students will explore iconic landmarks such as the Australian War Memorial, where they will reflect on the sacrifices made for our country, and Parliament House, where they will experience the heart of Australia's democracy.
They will also visit the High Court, where they will learn about the pillars of Australia’s justice system. At the Australian Institute of Sport, they will witness the dedication required to become a champion, while a trip to Taronga Zoo will bring them face-to-face with Australia’s unique wildlife.
This Canberra and Sydney trip promises to be an enriching experience that will create lifelong memories.
