Last Saturday was a very special day for our College. We gathered to celebrate 10 years since the opening of the Mercy Campus and to reflect on everything we have achieved together over the past decade.

Everywhere I looked there were conversations, laughter and old friends catching up. We had past and present staff, students, parents and special guests, including Emeritus Bishop Holohan, and past principals Ms Denise O’Meara and Mr Rob Crothers.

The gymnasium looked amazing. People wandered through the displays, sampled plenty of delicious food and enjoyed some fantastic live music from alumni Kade and Joshua, who played alongside Mr McKenzie. Lauren and Daniel gave us a snapshot of our history, and Mr Obern had everyone grinning with his Q&A session with alumni Lewis, Taya and Kacey.

Opening this campus back in 2015 was a bold step for Bunbury Catholic College. The vision was simple but important – to give families in the South West access to Catholic education closer to home.

To our foundation staff, thank you for your commitment and willingness to embrace the unknown. You turned an idea into reality. To all of our past and current staff, thank you for the way you have each contributed to the life of our College and positively influenced the lives of so many young people.

A special thank you to the many past students who joined us for the celebration. It was wonderful to see you back on campus and to hear about where life has taken you since your Mercy days. Thank you also to everyone who helped bring the event to life and to those who volunteered on the night. Your time and enthusiasm made the celebration such a success.

As Brian Solis said, “Community is much more than belonging to something; it’s about doing something together that makes belonging matter.” This anniversary showed just how strong our Mercy community is. We’ll keep building on that, especially by growing our alumni network, so we can keep celebrating the achievements of those who have been part of our story.
