It's Fun to Help Others

During this Term, Jack Beech, Year 9, participated in the World’s Greatest Shave, a fundraising event organised by the Leukaemia Foundation.

He was motivated to fundraise for this event in support of family and friends who have been affected by cancer.

Jack raised just over $3000 in one month by placing tins in Harvey businesses, including the Recreation Centre, Retravision and IGA, and posting a QR code for people to contribute electronically.

Students and staff at the College also donated to his fundraising efforts.

Jack grew his hair for the event, which took about 20 minutes to shave off. Thank you to Olivia Ietto, mother of Year 10 student Amelia Ietto, and hairdresser/owner of Golden Scissors, Harvey, for shaving Jack's hair.

He much prefers the shorter haircut.

“It was a worthwhile experience and it’s fun to help others.” Jack

Jack’s display of compassion and courage are a credit to him.
