Congratulations to Year 11 Students Paige and Heidi for successfully completing the Certificate IV in Preparation for Health and Nursing Studies. The girls attended Bunbury Regional Trade Training Centre (BRTTC) to study the course for one day a week during Terms 1 to 3.
Our Lady of Mercy College is a member of a consortium of schools that are able to access Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses at BRTTC. The training was provided by the Health Science Hub Registered Training Organisation.
The course provides students with academic knowledge for entry into any VET or University course involving the human body. This could include nursing, forensics, microbiology, massage, sports science, paramedics and health care as examples. Both students have attended placements with health care providers in Year 10 and Year 11 to learn more about careers in health care.
Well done on achieving the qualification!
"During the year 2021, I completed my Certificate IV in Preparations for Health and Nursing Studies. The course gave me knowledge about human anatomy and physiology, the ability to apply and interpret medical terminology, health mathematics and more medicinal knowledge needed as foundations to enter further nursing education.
I chose to participate and complete this course in order to use the certification as a pathway into university or as a means to apply for a youth position in a medical environment. I really enjoyed completing this course, and appreciate the opportunity to do such in Year 11 as I acknowledge it is a special and extremely beneficial prospect. I would recommend it to anyone looking to pursue a career in the medical industry.
I completed this course in conjunction with four ATAR subjects. It was a challenge, but I never felt as if it was unmanageable or difficult.
I found this course extremely helpful and beneficial to my future and am so glad I was eligible to complete this certification course."
