Congratulations to Class of 2020 student, Brock Potter, who was recently recognised for his culinary skills. Brock was awarded certificates by competing in the Baking Industry Awards and the Royal Agricultural Society of WA Food Awards at the Royal Perth Show 2022. He was awarded first place in three categories in the Baking Industry Awards and achieved silver and two bronze awards at the Royal Perth Show 2022.
Brock is in the second year of his Baking apprenticeship and is passionate about his chosen career path. He will be competing in Perth in the World Skills competition later in the year, and if successful, Brock may go on to represent WA at a national level.
Brock started to explore his career opportunities during Year 12 with Workplace Learning and accessing industry-based learning. He gained an apprenticeship with Miami Bakehouse.
When asked if he had any advice for current students regarding preparing for future study and employment, he said: “Do the best you can each year at school because it will help you prepare for the future.”
Brock would like to travel overseas and learn more about different cultures and their food history. He is enjoying his apprenticeship and is looking forward to developing his career in the hospitality sector.
