On Tuesday, 21 October, some Year 9 and 10 students who are taking Art this semester went on an excursion to the Bunbury Regional Art Gallery to see some of the exhibitions.
The first exhibition they viewed was the Iluka Visions annual presentation. First shown in 1991, it displays artworks from students in Years 7–12 in the nearby area.
Some students from Our Lady of Mercy College had pieces on display, including Year 12 2024 Visual Art ATAR students Grace and Rocky with their final pieces. The Year 9 and 10 students were tasked with scoring them from their point of view and then seeing how that compared to their actual results. The students also had to sketch a piece from the exhibition that they liked the most.
The second exhibition the students viewed was the Clay on Country display, showcasing ceramic sculptures made by people in Central Desert Australia. The students also had to sketch a piece from this exhibition. They also enjoyed viewing a final exhibition that displayed typography.
The students overall enjoyed viewing the amazing pieces showcased, and for most students, it was their first time visiting the gallery.
