Award-winning Australian author Norman Jorgensen visited Our Lady of Mercy College this week, inspiring our Year 7 English students with a captivating presentation on the art of novel writing.

Throughout the term, students have been studying his historical novel Jack’s Island. Set on Rottnest Island, the story follows the adventures of three friends while highlighting the challenges of life in the 1940s.

During his visit, Mr Jorgensen brought the story to life with detailed and colourful storytelling and shared an exciting glimpse into the much-anticipated sequel to Jack’s Island.

The presentation helped our students understand how stories are built and created, leaving them motivated to explore their own writing.
