Dear Year 12s,
Week 10 of Term 3 is a week that always feels like a first of 'lasts'.
Your final week at Our Lady of Mercy College was filled with moments that mark the end of a significant chapter:
Your last College Mass.
Your last breakfast together.
Your final PCG.
The last of your formal lessons.
And soon, your final exams.
All culminating in your Graduation Ceremony next term.
But while this week was filled with 'lasts', it was also rich with 'firsts'.
You are preparing to step into the world as independent young adults – something many of you have already been doing while balancing the demands of Year 12.
You’re exploring future pathways, applying for summer jobs and making plans for further education.
You’re saying goodbye to friends, teachers and mentors who have walked alongside you – whether since Year 7, midway through your high school journey, or just with the past year.
It only feels like last week that I was greeting you at the gates, and now, here we are, preparing to say goodbye.
I would like to take a moment to pause and thank each and every one of you for the legacy you leave behind.
To the Year 12 executive, Daniel, Olivia, Layla and Ben, thank you for your leadership, your courage and your commitment to shaping your final year with purpose and passion.
To our Year 12 leaders, thank you for serving the College with integrity and heart, within your respective portfolios. You will never know how much of a difference you all have made.
To the Class of 2025, I wish you every success in your journey ahead. May your future be filled with hope, love and happiness.
Catherine McAuley once said: “We should be shining lamps, giving light to all around us.”
Know that your time as the foundation graduating class of Our Lady of Mercy College is a legacy that will continue to shine brightly in the years to come.
