Earlier this year, our student leaders voted to donate part of the funds raised from our Feast Day celebrations to a local organisation making a real difference, Pregnancy Assistance Bunbury.

In the final week of Term 3, the leaders proudly presented a very generous cheque to Mrs Janet Mazza, Coordinator of Pregnancy Assistance Bunbury. Mrs Mazza was overwhelmed by the size of the donation and shared that it will go a long way towards providing much-needed resources, such as baby bottles and other essentials for local families seeking support.

Mrs Mazza also spoke with our students about the important work Pregnancy Assistance does in the community. Established by the Catholic Diocese of Bunbury in 1999, the organisation supports pregnant women, new parents and carers of babies by providing emotional support, practical goods and information, all free of charge.

Pregnancy Assistance primarily serves families experiencing financial distress and social isolation. Many are also dealing with issues including domestic violence, homelessness, substance abuse and teenage pregnancy. The organisation receives referrals from local schools, hospitals, social workers, women’s shelters and the WA Department of Communities’ child protection office.

We are proud of our student leaders for their thoughtful decision to support such a meaningful local cause.
