In this elective, you will design and create a decorative and functional item such as a tea pot, drawing inspiration from the artwork and architecture of the Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods, as well as from contemporary artists and craftspeople. You will develop skills, techniques, and processes associated with hand-building in clay, while becoming familiar with the language and terminology of ceramics. Alongside practical making, you will extend your art vocabulary and analysis skills, exploring how artists are inspired by their surroundings, other artists, and key art movements.
