Food Technology

Course Description

Food Technology courses focus on adolescent nutrition and the impact of food choices on long-term health. Society and culture strongly influence diet and eating habits, making it important for students to think critically when evaluating food trends and lifestyle choices. Students will design and prepare a variety of healthy and appealing recipes using fresh ingredients, diverse preparation techniques, utensils, and appliances. Two Food Technology courses are offered, each with a distinct focus.

Food Technology A – Food Trends
This course examines how current food trends influence diet and lifestyle. Students analyse various trends and creatively adapt meals to ensure they are both healthy and appealing.

Food Technology B – International Foods
This course explores the influence of different cultures on the Australian food scene and students’ own food culture. Students prepare a range of culturally diverse dishes while experimenting with unique ingredients and cooking techniques.
