Our Year 9 students recently visited Wespine Industries as part of the Career Taster Program, where they explored the exciting career pathways in the timber industry.
They toured the processing plant, learnt about the steps involved in preparing timber for the Building and Construction sector and discovered how every part of the tree is used sustainably.
The Wespine team made everyone feel so welcome. Students enjoyed hearing from Patrick, Chris, Sam, Soo-Lin and others, who generously shared their career journeys and insights into employment opportunities at Wespine. They also had the chance to ask questions about the Drymill and Greenmill and what it would look like to work at the plant. A delicious lunch was a wonderful bonus.
The visit was made available to us through the Year 9 Career Taster program. Thank you to Wespine, South Regional TAFE (especially Marchelle) and our Career Taster Coordinator, Chloe, for making this valuable experience possible.
Here’s what our Year 9 students had to say about the visit:
🌲 “I would recommend this experience to anyone, to learn about what Wespine offers for careers and jobs.”
🌲 “I found it an amazing experience.”
🌲 “It was cool to learn new things.”
🌲 “The Wespine excursion was very interesting and informative.”
