In Week 2 of the term, our Year 7 students took part in their transition program, spending time both at the College and at beautiful Pelican Point. The program has been designed to support a confident and connected start to middle school life, combining outdoor challenges with practical skill development on campus.
Outdoor Learning at Pelican Point
At Pelican Point in Bunbury, the team from AdventureWorks WA led a range of engaging outdoor activities focused on teamwork, communication and collaboration. Through problem-solving challenges and group tasks, students were encouraged to step outside their comfort zones and support one another.
Friendships began to form and confidence grew. Experiences such as these provide an important foundation for students as they transition into Middle School, helping them develop trust, resilience and a sense of belonging within their cohort.
Building Skills Back at the College
While half of the cohort embraced the outdoors, the other half remained on campus, where they enjoyed a brief introduction session to our Leadership and Performance (LEAP) program.

Students also became familiar with the digital tools they will use each day.
Practical sessions focused on sending professional emails, navigating SEQTA and confidently managing their devices. Developing these competencies early ensures students are well prepared to engage fully in their learning from the outset.
We look forward to seeing how this cohort continues to build on these skills in the coming weeks.
