Stephen Michael Program: Building Confidence Through Sport and Teamwork

ree

At the end of last semester, our Rising Leaders organised an exciting event as part of their program with the Stephen Michael Foundation. Over several weeks, the students held planning meetings with staff members and the principal, refining their ideas and preparing for a memorable experience.

The result was a multi-sport fun and games event, complete with a sausage sizzle, to which they invited the Year 9 LEAP class. This event gave the students a chance to put into practice all the skills they had developed during the semester, from leadership and teamwork to organisation and communication.

The Rising Leaders Program, run by the Stephen Michael Foundation, is a school-based initiative that empowers students through sport. It focuses on building leadership capabilities, social-emotional skills and encouraging community engagement.

The event was a fantastic success, with representatives from the Stephen Michael Foundation in attendance to celebrate the students’ achievements. We are incredibly proud of the confidence, leadership and initiative demonstrated by our students.

Thank you to Ijah, Max and Rennie and the Foundation for making this wonderful opportunity possible.

"The Stephen Michael program has been a great experience for an elective because I learnt a lot about emotions, leadership and communication. The staff were really nice and helped the class throughout our journey as individuals, getting us ready for the real world." Daniel
"The Stephen Michael program helped me to improve my leadership and teamwork skills significantly. I loved getting closer to my peers and building a relationship with the staff. I would definitely recommend the program to others and encourage them to learn more about communication and wellbeing." Gabrielle
