A big thank you to the Construction Training Fund and NextGen Skills for providing our students with a two-day Plumbing Try-A-Trade at the Bunbury Regional Trade Training Centre (BRTTC).
Our construction-curious Year 9 and 10 students had the opportunity to deep-dive into plumbing skills, including making a home sprinkler system. They also learnt about pipe laying and used a variety of technical skills to create a drainage system. Their instructor, Brad, guided them through the different types of plumbing jobs they could pursue in the future.
It was fantastic to see our students engaged in real-world learning activities that required problem-solving and initiative. Feedback from the students was extremely positive, and some are planning to study the Certificate II in Plumbing in Upper School.
Students in Years 11 and 12 can study a broad range of construction-related courses, including the Construction Careers Scholarship Program courses: https://ctf.wa.gov.au/construction-futures/scholarships
For more information about VET (Vocational Education and Training) courses available in Upper School, please contact the Career Services Team.
