This morning during assembly, our Year 12 student leaders officially handed over their responsibilities to the Year 11 students who will guide the College community in 2026.

Head of Year 11, Miss Teagan Doyle, announced the incoming Council of Student Leaders, and the 2025 Year 12 Student Executive were called to the stage for the traditional handover of scrolls.

Outgoing College Captains, Olivia Mumme and Daniel Phillips, addressed the assembly and welcomed the new leaders:

“Good morning, everyone, we are very excited to welcome the incoming leaders for 2026. We have had a joyful time in our positions, made many memories that we will remember for years to come and have learnt valuable life skills. We hope you enjoy your experience in leadership over the next year and we wish you all the very best with your experience and future journey.”

The newly appointed College Captains, Sienna Italiano and Luke Franks, then spoke to their peers, sharing their gratitude for the opportunity and their excitement to serve the College community in the year ahead.

Year 11 Council of Student Leaders

Each of these students was elected by their peers and staff following their leadership speeches earlier this term, where they reflected on a Mercy value that resonated with them and the qualities they hope to bring to the College community.

Sienna spoke of the Mercy value of Compassion:

“The Mercy values of Compassion, Service, Courage, Hospitality, Justice and Respect are important to me and my everyday life. However, the one that resonates with me the most would be Compassion. Compassion is about showing kindness to everyone no matter who they are, and I believe that kindness is one of the most important qualities a person can have. I always lend a helping hand to those in need, for example, donating to the St Vincent Appeals: whether it be blankets in the winter months or food items during Christmas time. I also enjoy assisting at the community kitchen and parish of Our Lady of Immigrants in Harvey and volunteering for local sporting groups like the Harvey Netball Association.”

Luke reflected on the importance of listening and building community:

“If I am successful in my application, I want to hear what people have to say and implement those ideas into a positive and constructive way to build upon the College. I would strongly support existing initiatives such as House Shirt Fridays, and I would like to bring back fun in school events such as the Students versus Teachers sports tournaments to help develop relationships between the student body and all the staff.”

The College congratulates all of our newly appointed student leaders and thanks our outgoing Year 12 leaders for their outstanding contribution and service.
