On Friday, 25 March, the College welcomed Daniel Merza to speak to our students.
Daniel was bullied for a decade and diagnosed with a mental illness at the age of 13. He refused to let his circumstances define him. Instead, Daniel bravely confronted his tormentors at 16 and completely turned his life around. In his presentation, Daniel shared his story of resilience with our students and provided them with strategies to become the best version of themselves.
The Year 7/8 session was entitled ‘Thriving Wellbeing’ and focused on:
• The “5 monkeys” shaping poor mental health in young people.
• Healthy and practical ways to cope with stress, anxiety, and depression.
• The power of reaching out and breaking the ‘fear’ barrier.
The Year 9, 11/12 sessions focused on greater self-awareness, personal responsibility, vision, purpose, self-belief and tenacity.
Thank you, Daniel, for sharing your story and inspiring us all to strive for greatness, regardless of our challenges.
