We are currently inviting applications for the role of COLLEGE ACCOUNTANT

Our Lady of Mercy College Australind is a nurturing co-educational secondary College for students from Year 7 to Year 12.

Our Lady of Mercy College is a new and vibrant College, located in Australind which is locally referred to as an aquatic paradise. Surrounded by water with the Brunswick and Collie Rivers to the east and south and the Leschenault Estuary to the west, it's a great place for boating, sailing, windsurfing, fishing and raising a family. Just 11 kilometres north of Bunbury, you can reach Perth in one and a half hours along the Forrest Highway, making Australind an ideal sea change location.

The Catholic faith, in the Mercy tradition, is at the heart of the College. The guiding philosophy is centred in ‘Embracing Life, Nurturing Faith and Inspiring Learning’. To meet the increased demand for student places, the College invites applications for the role of College


This role assumes responsibility for the overall financial management of the College which employs in excess of 80 staff and has an operating budget of approximately $15 million per annum. Initially, support for the role will be provided from an experienced school Business Manager who will provide advisory services to the College.

We are looking for a highly organised individual, with well-developed financial knowledge and management skills. The role will involve tasks such as providing regular financial reports to the Principal, managing the overall cashflow of the College, overseeing day-to-day financial procedures, completion of Catholic Education Western Australia Limited reporting requirements and State Government Compliance matters.
This position commences mid-January 2021.


Essential Selection Criteria


The successful person will have;

  • A Catholic background or the ability to demonstrate empathy with the Catholic ethos of the

  • Formal accounting qualifications related to the role

  • Demonstrated experience in the management of financial services

  • Professional written and oral communication skills

  • High level organisation and planning skills

  • Demonstrated experience in financial record keeping

  • Ability to manage highly confidential and sensitive information

  • Flexible and adaptable approach to work

  • Ability to show initiative within a team context

Desirable Selection Criteria


  • In-depth knowledge of school administration systems such as Maze

  • Knowledge of Catholic Education processes

  • Knowledge of payroll systems and staff onboarding processes

  • Well-developed knowledge of Microsoft 365 Suite

Qualifications Required

  • Formal accounting qualifications related to the role

  • Western Australia Department of Education National Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC)

  • Working with Children Screen Check

  • Have completed, working towards, or be willing to work towards completing to CEWA Accreditation requirements. Additional information can be found here: CEWA Limited Accreditation Framework


Monday to Friday, 8.00am – 4.00pm (negotiable).
Full time ongoing position
Some afterhours work may be required from time to time.


Salary Package

$80,000 - $100,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications
Award: Administrative and Technical Officers EBA
