Café Manager
Our Lady of Mercy College Australind is a nurturing co-educational secondary College for students from Year 7 to Year 12.
The Catholic faith, in the Mercy tradition, is at the heart of the College. The guiding philosophy is centred in ‘Embracing Life, Nurturing Faith and Inspiring Learning’. We encourage our students to embrace all aspects of life, to nurture their spirituality and to let their natural curiosity inspire deep learning.
The Café Manager will be responsible for the daily running of the College Cafe providing recess and lunch to students and staff. The position requires a dynamic individual who is passionate about providing a healthy, nutritious food service to a school of approximately 820 children and 100 staff.
In addition to daily food preparation, other responsibilities include catering for College events such as sports carnivals and retreats, ordering stock, taking payments, stocktake and daily cleaning of the canteen facilities.
Key Areas of Responsibility
The role may include;

Effectively and efficiently managing the day-to-day management of the Café, Café staff and volunteers

Developing and implementing an efficient, affordable, quality food service at recess and lunch time which provides and models a wide variety of healthy, nutritious, enjoyable food and drinks

Ability to provide safe handling, preparation and serving of food in accordance with the CEWA Occupational Safety & Health in Schools policy

Ordering of Café supplies and conducting regular stocktakes

Demonstrating a desire to assist and provide outstanding service to students, staff and parents

Reflecting and supporting the healthy eating curriculum taught in the classrooms

Willingly participating in school activities
Essential Selection Criteria
The successful person will have;
-
A Catholic background or the ability to demonstrate empathy with the Catholic ethos of the College

Hold an appropriate qualification in the field
-
A minimum of 2 years proven experience in a similar role

Experience in ordering of Café supplies

Possess a high degree of professionalism, confidentiality and interpersonal skills
-
Flexible and adaptable approach to work
-
Ability to show initiative and take direction within a team context

Be an enthusiastic person with the ability to work as part of a very dedicate and committed team
Desirable Selection Criteria

In-depth knowledge of school administration systems such as SEQTA, MAZE or AoS
-
Demonstrated experience in an educational context

Hours
Monday to Friday, 7.00am – 3.00pm.
40 weeks per year during the school term.
Some afterhours work may be required from time to time.
Salary Package
Level 5 - $51,982 (Full time equivalent)
Award: Administrative and Technical Officers EBA
